Who Are These Kids, And Why Are They Calling Me Mom?

The other morning it hit me...I have 2 kids. I am a mom. How did I get here? I am not sure if it was the lack of sleep that drove me to this thought, but it sure was a surreal feeling! My mom keeps referring to "the boys" and every time, I do a double take! I am still amazed that Spencer is finally here. Parker is adjusting really well to being a big brother. He loves holding Spencer and talking to him. The other day, he decided to show his little brother all of the fun toys in his toy box. The poor kid was probably overstimulated and will end up with ADD later in life, but Parker was having so much fun!

Spencer couldn't be a better baby. He is sleeping between 2 1/2 to 4 1/2 hours at night and is a great nurser. He was a little jaundiced last week, but that has cleared up and he has gained back 5 1/2 ounces in a week.

We forgot how little newborns are. Each time we hold him, we are just amazed by all of his tiny features. We feel so blessed!

At Last!

After waiting for 6 long years, our little miracle, Spencer Aaron Jeffs, finally arrived this past Tuesday, June 10th, at 9:59pm. He was a little peanut, weighing just 6lbs. 13oz. and 19 1/2 inches long. It was absolutely love at first sight! We are all just smitten by him. After 2 days in the hospital, we are home now and loving every minute of this baby. We feel so blessed to have him in our family. We appreciate all of your thoughts and prayers during this pregnancy and throughout our struggles with infertility. It has been a long and hard road, but with it has come growth and faith which we could have never developed on our own. As I hold Spencer in my arms, I am just so grateful for this amazing blessing in our lives. We can't wait for each of you to meet him!

The End Is Near

I had one of my final OB appointments today and found out that I am 1 1/2 centimeters dilated! I know I am just 1/10 of the way there, but it gave me the boost I needed to survive the next 11 days. Baby is on his way! I think I may have floated out of the office instead of my now normal waddle. We are pretty much ready for his arrival. The nursery is done for the most part. We will eventually hang the letters of his name above the changing table once we decide on one.

The stroller has been put together. The clothes just need to be washed and the hospital bag packed. My favorite part of the nursery is Parker's doggie artwork he drew for the baby.

We had him choose the theme of the nursery (puppies) and also had him clean up and change the batteries on his old baby toys that he passed on to his brother. He has been excited to be a part of the planning and I am sure it helps that the baby won't be interested in his Legos and Star Wars figures for a while. I am in total nesting mode and have a hard time sitting still. We can hardly wait!

Last Day of First Grade

Parker with his teacher, Miss Andersen

It is hard to believe the school year has come and gone so quickly. My baby is now a 2nd grader! I thought leaving him for kindergarten was rough, but I really had to hold back the tears when I dropped him off at first grade that first day knowing he would be in school all day long! Parker has grown so much this year. It has been so much fun watching him learn to read, losing teeth, and telling all the corny jokes we told as kids. Fortunately, he will still hold my hand and give me hugs in front of his friends. I made him pinkie swear that he will always do that but Justin says that will be weird when he is 14. I refuse to think that far ahead! For now, I will just have to appreciate that tiny hand that still fits in mine.

And the Oscar Goes To...

Today Parker's first grade class put on a play of Jack and the Beanstalk. He was the silent star of the play as the Beanstalk. He was so funny to watch because he wouldn't even look up at us. Parker gets soooo embarrassed being in front of people.

The highlight of his career as a beanstalk came when the giant, played by his good friend C.J., had to "climb" down him and Jack, played by Collin, had to chop him down.

Parker fell dramatically to the ground in beat with the music. How could we help but not giggle? The kids did a great job. It is hard to believe they will be leaving the first grade in 2 days.

Our Newest Addition

No baby yet...sorry to disappoint you. Our newest addition to the Jeffs' family zoo (1 daschund, 1 crested gecko, 1 water frog, 1 ghost shrimp, and too many fish to count) is a mudskipper named Skippy. He is a fish that can live in both the water and on land so our fish tank inside the house now has a floating island. He technically breaks my pet rule of a land animal having at least but no more than four legs, but how could we resist? He is so ugly he is cute!

Puppy Love

Parker was in heaven on Saturday taking care of Nana Ann and Papa Swing's new baby--a chiuaua puppy named Mimi. The puppy really took to him, following him everywhere and even crying for him.

Papa took these pictures of Parker and the puppy. We had a good laugh once we noticed the positioning of the sun dial behind Parker's head!

When he wasn't taking care of Mimi, Parker was busy pushing Aunt Vicki and Papa Swing in the pool.
