Back to School

Parker started school the last week of July. It is hard to believe my baby is in second grade! The night before he started, he seemed a little out of sorts. When I asked him what was wrong, he burst into tears because he didn't want to leave Spencer while he was at school. He was just sobbing and it made me cry too. He has been such a big help this summer with the baby. I have come to the conclusion that everyone needs a 7 year old when they have a newborn. I know it will especially come in handy over the next few months when baby will be able to fully appreciate and react to Parker's nonstop entertainment.

It was funny to watch Parker that first morning of school. He didn't want any pictures taken and insisted that I didn't need to walk him up to his class. I guess he is too cool to have his mom blubbering all over him in front of his friends. We compromised and I was allowed to walk him up for just the first day. He had a great first day--a wonderful teacher, Mrs. Allison, a few of his friends in his class, and cool things in his classroom like a sheep's heart, a sheep's brain, a dead bullfrog, and rattlesnake tales (all in jars of course!)
